US Open winners in Boston

KiplagatIf you were at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, or were watching ESPN2 yesterday, you saw some top track action at the inaugural U.S. Open, including victories by Silas Kiplagat over Bernard Lagat in the Men's Mile, Ethiopia's Fantu Magiso in the Women's 800m and Israeli record-holder Jillian Schwartz in the Women's Pole Vault. All three have now arrived in Boston to get ready for Saturday's New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. It's the first time in Boston for Kiplagat, the World Championship silver medalist, so he probably doesn't realize how lucky he is not to be standing in a Copley Square snow bank this time of year.

Dear Google user,

We're getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that's a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.

We believe this stuff matters, so please take a few minutes to read our updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service at http://www.google.com/policies. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2012.

One policy, one Google experience
Easy to work across Google Tailored for you Easy to share and collaborate
Easy to work across Google

Our new policy reflects a single product experience that does what you need, when you want it to. Whether you're reading an email that reminds you to schedule a family get-together or finding a favorite video that you want to share, we want to ensure you can move across Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube, or whatever your life calls for with ease.

Tailored for you

If you're signed into Google, we can do things like suggest search queries – or tailor your search results – based on the interests you've expressed in Google+, Gmail, and YouTube. We'll better understand which version of Pink or Jaguar you're searching for and get you those results faster.

Easy to share and collaborate

When you post or create a document online, you often want others to see and contribute. By remembering the contact information of the people you want to share with, we make it easy for you to share in any Google product or service with minimal clicks and errors.

Protecting your privacy hasn't changed

Our goal is to provide you with as much transparency and choice as possible, through products like Google Dashboard and Ads Preferences Manager, alongside other tools. Our privacy principles remain unchanged. And we'll never sell your personal information or share it without your permission (other than rare circumstances like valid legal requests).

Got questions?
We've got answers.

Visit our FAQ at http://www.google.com/policies/faq to read more about the changes. (We figured our users might have a question or twenty-two.)

Notice of Change

March 1, 2012 is when the new Privacy Policy and Terms will come into effect. If you choose to keep using Google once the change occurs, you will be doing so under the new Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Fields for the 2012 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, from the sprints to the distances, may be the deepest in the meet's 17-year history. For the moment, let's fire up those fast-twitch muscle fibers and take a look at the men's two-lapper, which features one of the brightest young – and we do mean young – stars in the sport.

MBTA Men's 400m: Attack of the Superheroes

Kirani James was still just 18 when he became World Champion last summer, but it was certainly no fluke: for years, the sprint prodigy from Grenada has been likened to Usain Bolt. Breaking world age-group records every step of the way, Kirani won a couple of NCAA titles for the University of Alabama before turning pro last summer, just before becoming the youngest 400m World Champ in history. Come to the Reggie Lewis center on February 4th and someday you'll be telling your grandchildren that you saw Kirani compete up close. If that's not enough, you'll also be able to say you saw Batman. Because, yes, the perennial 400m hurdles medalist Bershawn Jackson is out to give the kid a run for his money.

For the full 400m fields, as well as start lists for the Women's 300m and Men's 3000m, click here.

Anna Pierce: New England's Own

Born and raised in Maine with an undergrad degree from Brown University, Anna Pierce may train in Mammoth Lakes but she knows her way around New England. The 4-time U.S. Champion and 2008 Olympic steeplechaser knows her way around a track, too. Some say the American Record for 1000m is ripe for the picking on February 4th, but what does Anna think? Well, let's just say you probably don't want to go grab a hot dog while she and training partner Morgan Uceny – ranked No. 1 in the World at 1500m – are making their way to the starting line at 7:30 p.m. Check out her interview this week on Runner's World Online here.

Matt Centrowitz: A Triumphant Return

As a high schooler in 2007, 1500m sensation Matt Centrowitz ran the Boys' Invitational Mile at this meet. (Jenny Simpson ran the Girls' Mile in 2005. Neither of them won; both are now World Championships medalists. What does that tell you about the quality of those high school miles?) Matt's looking forward to the great crowds he remembers at the Reggie. For today's Brief Chat with Matt at Runner's World Online, click here.

A few good seats remain. Hurry if you want one.

Don't be left out in the cold. General admission seats are sold out but a small number of premium seats are still available. Tickets and meet information can be found on-line at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-849-8722

Six World and Olympic Medalists Added to "Super" Fields

BOSTON (Jan 26) – Reigning double Olympic Champion Tirunesh Dibaba headlines a group of seven Olympic and World Championship medalists in the middle and long distance events who have confirmed their participation in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, organizers announced today.  Other medalists announced today include Olympic and World Champion Meseret Defar and World Championship medalists Daniel Kipchirchir Komen, Silas Kiplagat, Haron Keitany and Shannon Rowbury.  Tickets for the 17th annual Olympic-style event are on sale now at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-849-8722.

Dibaba, from Ethiopia, is no stranger to the Reggie Lewis Center oval and is one of the most decorated female athletes in the history of the sport.  In addition to two Olympic gold medals, Dibaba has a total of eight senior IAAF World Championship titles on the track and in cross country.  Having won her first title at the age of 17 with what seems, at times, to be unmatched closing speed, Dibaba earned the nickname of “Baby Faced Destroyer.”  Dibaba set the World Indoor 5000m Record in Boston in 2005 and again in 2007.  She will run the 2 mile in Boston.

Meseret Defar has set nine world records indoors, outdoors and on the roads.  She won Olympic Gold in 2004 and brought home a bronze medal from Korea when she finished 3rd in the 5000m at the 2011 World Championships.  “Boston, I am coming,” said Defar.  “This is the one event in the world where I know that all fans want to see good distance action every year.”  Defar will race in the 3000m against American Shannon Rowbury, the 2009 IAAF World Championship bronze medalist at 1500m, and the previously announced Jenny Simpson – the reigning IAAF World Champion at 1500m.

Silas Kiplagat, from Kenya, was the 2011 IAAF World Championship Silver Medalist at 1500m and the fastest man in the world in this event in 2010. Kiplagat will be contesting the 3000m against the previously announced Dejen Gebremeskel of Ethiopia and Matthew Centrowitz of the USA, both of whom won bronze medals at last year's IAAF World Championships at 5000m and 1500m, respectively.

In the Men's Mile, Kenya's Daniel Kipchirchir Komen, a two-time World Indoor Championship medalist, and his compatriot Haron Keitany, the 2010 IAAF World Championship bronze medalist at 1500m, will race the against the previously announced IAAF World Champion Mo Farah from Great Britain and American Galen Rupp.

Other previously announced athletes include Christian Cantwell, Matthew Centrowitz, Bershawn Jackson, Kirani James, David Oliver and Jenn Suhr.

The 17th-annual meet, the second stop in USA Track & Field's Visa Championship Series, begins at 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 4 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center at Roxbury Community College.  Tickets and meet Information can be found on-line at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-849-8722.
