Track and Field's Best Arrive in New York for the 2009 Reebok Grand Prix

Reebok Grand Prix 2009
TRACK AND FIELD’S BEST ARRIVE IN NEW YORK FOR THE 2009 REEBOK GRAND PRIX

Stage is Set for Marquee Match-ups

NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 29, 2009) " World champion Tyson Gay, Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown, Olympic silver medalists Jenn Stuczysnki and Richard Thompson, former World Champion Lauryn Williams and Sweden's Olympic gold medalist Carolina Klüft were in New York yesterday to preview this weekend's meet.

The Reebok Grand Prix is the fourth stop of USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series and will be held at 3:00pm on May 30, at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

Lauryn Williams and Veronica Campbell-Brown have developed a friendly rivalry through the years and are set to face off once again in the 100m. “Rivals give you that extra drive and are good for the sport,” said Campbell-Brown. “It helps us push each other.” Throughout her career, Williams, has proven one thing " the bigger the race the better she races: as a college sophomore in 2004, Williams surprised many to finish ahead of Campbell-Brown to win the 100m silver medal at the Athens Olympics, and then again one year later when Williams won the world title at the same distance. “It’s a friendly rivalry and we always want to do our best,” said Williams. “If she (Campbell-Brown) is not one of the eight on the line, I always wonder where she is.”

Veteran Reebok Grand Prix star Tyson Gay offered some insights on the meet, the stadium and its fans to fellow sprinters Asafa Powell and Richard Thompson. “The Reebok Grand Prix has been really good to me,” said Gay. “The track is fast and the stadium is packed with Caribbean fans-more Caribbean fans than Americans, you guys will have a lot of support.”

Favored in the 100m, Powell, returning from an ankle injury, is intent on letting his racing speak for itself. “Everything has been smooth so far - I’m back and ready to run”, said Powell. “I’m going to wait until Saturday before I make big talk.” Thompson, who burst onto the scene in 2008 by dominating collegiate track and field and capturing the silver medal in Beijing is looking forward to the strong Caribbean support found at the Reebok Grand Prix. “I look forward to running in New York City,” said Thompson.

Three-time defending pole vault champion at the Reebok Grand Prix Jenn Stuczynski is looking to push herself even further this weekend. “With my training and the way I’ve been jumping,” said Stuczynksi, “I hope to get over 5 meters this year.” The Fredonia, New York native will also have lots of crowd support. “A lot of my family and friends are coming down to watch on Saturday,” added Stuczynski.

Klüft, one of the world’s greatest athletes, will be competing in New York for the first time this Saturday. Second only to Jackie Joyner-Kersee on the all-time Heptathlon list, Klüft has been hampered by injuries but is ready to put her best foot forward at the Reebok Grand Prix. “I expect to do my best all the time”, said Klüft. “My goal this season is to get free from injury.”

It features Olympic stars, top high school athletes and a Fastest Kid in New York competition for 7- and 8-year-olds. Marquee Match-ups of World Champions and Olympic Medalists in Place for 2009 Reebok Grand Prix

Reebok Grand Prix 2009
Marquee Match-ups of World Champions and Olympic Medalists in Place for 2009 Reebok Grand Prix

NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 18) – Marquee match-ups for the women’s and men’s 5,000 meter, women’s 100 meter, women’s 400 meter, women’s 200 meter and men’s 110 meter hurdles for the 2009 Reebok Grand Prix announced today by organizers of the 2009 Reebok Grand Prix.

The Reebok Grand Prix is the fourth stop of USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series and will be held at 3:00pm on May 30, at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

Women’s 5,000 Meters
Ethiopia’s double Olympic gold medalist at 5,000 and 10,000 meters and nine-time world champion Tirunesh Dibaba will make her 2009 debut in the women’s 5,000m. Dibaba, who has set three world records in her young but wildly successful career, will be challenged by, among others, Kim Smith from New Zealand. Smith was a four-time NCAA Champion at Providence and is the New Zealand national record holder at 5,000 and 10,000 meters. Also added to the field is Werknesh Kidane of Ethiopia, the 2003 World Cross Country Champion and 10,000 meter silver medalist at the 2003 World Championships; and Genzebe Dibaba, Tirunesh’s younger sister. The younger Dibaba won the 2009 World Junior Cross Country Championships and just two weeks ago won her first Ethiopian national title at 5,000m.

Women’s 100 Meters
The women’s 100 meter dash features a world-class field including defending champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica and American Olympic silver medalist Lauryn Williams. Campbell-Brown and Williams have gone head-to-head multiple times in recent years and have a history of performing well in major competitions. The two-time Olympic gold medalist at 200 meters, Campbell-Brown defeated Williams in a photo finish at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka in the 100m. Two years earlier, at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, Williams won the gold at 100 meters with Campbell-Brown finishing a close second. The results of the women’s 100m at this year’s Reebok Grand Prix could serve as a preview for the results of 2009 World Championships set for Berlin later this summer.

Men’s 5,000 Meters
The superb field for the men’s 5,000 meter event is headlined by defending 1,500 meter and 5,000 meter World Champion Bernard Lagat of the United States. Reigning World Cross Country Champion Gebre-egziabher Gebremariam of Ethiopia, 2008 Olympic 5,000 meter bronze medal-winner Edwin Soi of Kenya and 2008 Olympic 10,000 meter bronze medalist Micah Kogo also of Kenya will take on Lagat in a race that will threaten to break the 13 minute barrier for the first time ever on US soil. In 1996, Bob Kennedy was the first American athlete to run inside 13 minutes for 5,000 meters, and his American Record still stands at 12:58.21.

Women’s 400 Meters
America’s best will face Jamaica’s best in the women’s 400 meters. The American duo of Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards will take on Jamaica’s Novlene Williams-Mills and Shericka Williams. Felix, America’s reigning World Champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist at 200 meters, ran the world-leading time at 400 meters several weeks ago in Doha. Sanya Richards has been dominated at this distance with
the fastest time in the world in three of the last four years. Shericka Williams won the silver medal at 400 meters at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing just ahead of Richards. Novlene Williams-Mills is a two-time Olympic 4x400 meter bronze medalist and was the 2007 World Championships 400 meter bronze medalist. Williams-Mills has the second fastest 400 meter time of 2009, right behind Felix.

Women’s 200 Meter
One of Jamaica’s sprint divas from the 2008 Olympics, Shelly-Ann Fraser, will take center stage in the women’s 200 meters. Fraser won gold at 100 meters at the 2008 Olympics with a personal best time of 10.78 seconds. Among her challengers will be up and coming Americans Shalonda Solomon and Bianca Knight. Solomon set an indoor American Record at 300 meters in February and Knight won the NCAA Indoor Championships at 200 meters in 2008.

Men’s 110 Meter Hurdles
Two-time Olympic silver medalist Terrence Trammell, Jamaican Olympic finalist Maurice Wignall, 2005 World Championship gold medalist Ladji Doucouré of France will square off against 2008 Olympic silver medalist David Payne in the men’s 110 meter hurdles. Doucouré, who finished fourth behind Payne in Beijing, won the gold medal at European Indoor Championships in the 60 meter hurdles last March. Trammell, the 2007 World Championships silver medalist, is coming off an indoor season that saw him run the fourth fastest time in history over 60 meter hurdles. Wignall, the Jamaican record holder at 110m hurdles, is the reigning Commonwealth Champion in the high hurdles.

Produced by Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., the Reebok Grand Prix is in its fifth year and is the fourth stop on USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series. It features Olympic stars, top high school athletes and a Fastest Kid in New York competition for 7- and 8-year-olds. Among her top rivals will be Ethiopian sisters Ejegayehu and Genzebe Dibaba. Ejegayehu is the 2004 Olympic silver medalist at 10,000m and 2005 World Championships bronze medalist at both 5000m and 10,000m, while younger sister Genzebe is a two-time World Junior Cross Country Champion and last weekend won the Ethiopian senior 5000m national title at only 18 years old.

Joining them will be three-time U.S. indoor 1500m champion Rob Myers; Canadian 1500m record holders Kevin Sullivan (outdoors) and Nate Brannen (indoors); and Mexican national indoor record holder Pablo Solares.

The 2009 adidas Track Classic will also highlight winners from the major Jamaica Invitational in Kingston last weekend. Featuring some of the best athletes from across the globe, the adidas Track Classic has showcased track and field superstars from more than two-dozen nations including World Champions Tyson Gay, Jeremy Wariner, Allyson Felix, Meseret Defar and Veronica Campbell-Brown.

Among the biggest changes to this year's event will be a move to an evening program that will allow for world class times in the middle and long distance races, while still taking advantage of Southern California's warmth and the Home Depot Center's fast track for the sprints. The Reebok Grand Prix is the fourth stop of USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series and will be held at 3:00pm on May 30, at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

Jamaica’s Powell, 26, held the 100 meter world record from June 2005 to May 2008 and has consistently broken the 10 second barrier in competition while running under 9.80 more times than all other sprinters combined. The two-time Olympian won a gold medal and broke the world record in the 4x100m Relay as the anchor of the Jamaican team in Beijing.

The 27-year old Stuczynski broke her own American indoor record in the pole vault when she successfully cleared 15 feet, 10 inches at the 2009 U.S. Indoor Nationals giving her a seventh U.S. title. The 2008 Olympic silver medalist has been the number one ranked American pole vaulter since 2006.

American sprinter Felix is the current and two-time world champion at 200 meters. The 23-year old ran her season’s best time in Beijing, earning her second silver medal in the event. She also took home her first Olympic gold this past summer as part of the 4x400m relay team.

Camel Active

Slip-ons: The casual slip-ons are going to be favorite of all. Being casual doesn't bring the tag 'sloppy' to them. They are in fact stylish. And this Spring and Summer, they'll be liked most in the shades of cream and light brown. Some of them are perforated so that your feet remain cool in the hot weather. They can well be worn with jeans, shorts or casual pants.

Leather Loafers: The classic and simple loafers will be available in classic colors like black, brown, white and tan. They go well with 'not so formal' dresses.

Suede Shoes: Widely known to be winter material, suede in its cool version is there for spring summer footwear too. They are used for practically any style- slip- ons, loafers or boat shoes. Shades like tan, black, brown and mustard as well as non conventional ones like yellow are there for all. The adventurous guys can try non conventional shades with light neutrals or denim.

Improvised Boat Shoes: The conventional boat shoes will now be seen in an improved avatar. These casual slip ons can be seen without laces and the upper part made of suede or leather. Available in almost all colors such as red, brownish- yellow, or black, they look great with shorts, jeans or khakis.

Formal Dress Shoes: Men can not escape formal wear any way. So the evergreen dress shoes also can't go anywhere. They look awesome with light colored suits and dress pants. Shining blacks, browns, light gray, all's there to choose from.

Other Details: Elongated Shoes will continue to dominate the market. Oxford shoes, slip-ons or summer boots- they can all be found in elongated style. Desert boots will also be there in natural, sandy shades. The indispensable sneaker can be found in bright colors, some of them having color blocking and graphic-art prints.

Best Adidas Golf Shoes

What makes Adidas golf shoes such a great buy for the avid golfer? Is it the brand-name and reputation alone, the different designs and styles the company launches every season or simply the tremendous comfort of walking long distances and not feeling it? The answer can only be given by a golfer who owns a pair - or possibly more - of these top branded golf shoes and that's what we bring to you, here in this article.

The truth be told, Adidas shoes for golfers are a preferred lot because they combine all the above named factors into a durable and hardy pair of shoes that weather the wear and tear of walking an 18-hole course with aplomb!

The main reason why more and more beginners at Golf consider branded golf shoes, like Adidas etc. is because they realize the importance of having a complete kit for bettering their game and comfortable footwear is essential to being able to spend more time concentrating on improving the game, rather than worrying about corns and stuff. Even otherwise, golf being a field-sport requires players to walk distances, many times on less than perfect terrain and this makes it vital for them to have a reliable pair of comfort-shoes for support and added walking dependability.

Thus, when it comes to choosing a branded pair of golf shoes, it is but natural that even amateurs or week-end golfers like to consider Adidas golf shoes since these fit the bill for styling, design range, are wearable and trendy besides being reliable in the long run, which is golf requisite for hardy, comfortable walking on the course.

The preferred choice of professional golfers is also Adidas and not just for golf, but many other field sports such as running, jogging, football, basketball, cricket, tennis etc. which makes it so special for a beginner at golf to sport this top brand of fashionable footwear. It is not surprising to find that many professional players have been selected on contract basis by Adidas to only promote this brand when they play professionally, for which they earn tidy sums of money, having entered official endorsement contracts. So, why would the amateur or causal golfer not like to be in the shoes worn by celebrities and professional players? The answer is of course, they would since the shoes spell quality and class and also owning a pair is bound to make them feel surer of improving their performance on the golf-course by being that much closer to having something also worn by their favorite players.

Thus, it is easy to understand the interest of even ordinary golf players about the brand which has inspired so many in America to take to the ultimate name in comfort and class: Adidas golf shoes for the discerning golfer.

That these come in assorted designs, styles and functionality to suit every golfer's temperament and needs is evident from the intense research and innovation that goes into making so many different types of golfing shoes. Today's golfer is spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing the perfect style of designer footwear for his or her sporting needs: there are spiked saddles, more modish less spiky - runner style golf-shoes as well as others in fashionable materials like suede! So, the traditional golf shoes has given way to the styles dictated by fashion footwear designers and are now available in a riot of colors and modern patterns to woo and please the most quality-conscious buyer on the links!

Ranging from $30 to $140 in pricing, this is one brand that offers something for everyone looking at stylish, comfy and reliable golf-shoes and sandals - check the range out today!

Best Adidas Running Shoes

Since 1920 Adidas has been working on perfecting the best sport shoe available and concentrating on manufacturing a running shoe that minimizes athletic injuries. In the beginning Adi Dessler had no electricity or machinery and no real work place to speak of, so he created hand made leather training shoes from his mothers bathroom. His first pair of training shoes were developed for track and field, then there were football boots. To this day, Adidas still knows exactly how to meet our needs. Whether it is with Adidas Originals or Adidas Performance shoes Adidas still remains a household word and a company we continue to put our confidence in.

To name a few reasons for our confidence being so established with this company, one simply has to take a quick look back thru their sport accomplishments. To name two successes, say in the 1990s, Germany won the football World Championship, all the players wore the best of Adidas. Then there was Heile Gebrselassie, who Adidas designed long distance spikes for and went on to win a gold metal in the 10,000m Olympics in Atlanta. Of course, they have taken just as much pride in designing their Original Product line. They make great indoor, outdoor, running and training shoes.

When shopping online, you get the advantage of being provided with excellent information which Adidas prides themselves on and provides you with enough information to make a responsible decision every time. It is also smart to make yourself familiar with the return policies of the website you are shopping from. A side thought, many people enjoy buying new socks at the same time, saving those socks for workouts only. Think about it.
